So why is Trump trashing Ukraine’s elected leader and its democracy? I suspect he wants voters to think there’s no real difference between Kremlin and Kyiv. So when he comes up with a peace deal that sells Ukraine down the river it will be easier to defend.
It’s a miscalculation. If Trump scuttles from Ukraine then it will be to him as Afghanistan became to Biden — an ignominious retreat/defeat from which his reputation never recovered.
