Soccer would not exist without immigrants. Immigrants play and coach the game, work in the stadiums, fill the stands, and make celebrations like the World Cup possible. Six of the players on the US Men's National Team are immigrants.
We will not allow ICE or anyone else to sow fear in our communities — especially at this moment. As the world comes to our city, we will stand proudly with our immigrant neighbors and reject these attacks for what they are: an attempt to divide us.
This is ridiculous on every level. First, the saga of Iraqi striker Aymen Hussein being denied entry, then reports of Iran being told to only arrive in the US on matchdays, and now this.
The World Cup is supposed to unite nations, not create obstacles for them. FIFA cannot keep looking the other way. They need to step in now and put an end to this.
I'm not the most patriotic person, but I find it so easy to get behind the #USMNT.
The squad today features Dutch-Americans, Mexican-Americans, English-Americans, random guys from small American towns.
The epitome of the diversity of this country & that should be celebrated.
@PvtJokr@LMac0515@usmntonly You only complain when it suits your agenda. If we did host, you’d just be saying how our government sold out to FIFA instead of helping taxpayers. Regardless, not like any real fans would’ve gone, ticket prices are shameful
So many in Illinois who constantly bitch about taxes/Pritzker/Democrats/Chicago are upset they won’t give taxpayer money to billionaire NFL owners.
So many in Indiana who badmouth Illinois for the same reasons seem pretty jazzed about paying taxes for a new stadium.
