I don’t think we should advise younger artists to avoid creating albums early on because of the streaming era we’re in.
Sequencing, artwork, and world building are skills worth developing early.
An album should be more than a collection of singles.
@sametspasha@BeatStars A week with no answer is rough when it's your sales on the line. Hope they sort it. Long term it's worth having a store on your own site so one support queue can't stall you.
@beatsbybooby Your catalog shouldn't go dark because a monthly sub is due on someone else's platform. That's the whole reason we built https://t.co/Ql9HrFEVl8, so the store lives on your own site.

This is my hot take.
The next generation of ultra successful entrepreneurs will be artists.
Business is no longer like solving a Rubik’s cube, but instead like painting the Mona Lisa.
You need to create something that not only solves a problem but that moves people deeply.
AI-produced output does not move anyone deeply.
The best marketers today already understand this.
You must lead with an emotion and work backwards from that.
AI has already commoditised software but has not and will not replace human connection.
So get your butt to your desk, switch off your phone, turn off your agents, and create some art.
@machebeats@BeatStars Its definitely the era of keeping tracks on the hard drive and playing them for people who really appreciate it and cant jack the vibe
not enough people seem to get how big of a deal this is. tech companies are pouring millions into creating their own media assets:
> OpenAI bought TBPN
> Anthropic's YouTube channel has 800k+ subscribers
> Stripe's cofounder hosts his own podcast, Cheeky Pint
> Stripe now prints Works in Progress magazine every two months
> a16z's newsletter has 250K subscribers & it brought in the Turpentine podcast network
> Microsoft prints Signal (a 120-page magazine)
> Shopify launched a newsletter run by former journalists
> Figma launched a print magazine at Config this year
> Notion's YouTube channel has 349k subscribers
> Ramp launched Leading Indicators (built on its own spend data)
> Brex launched a newsletter
> Plaid bought This Week in Fintech (200k+ subscribers, 75k+ event attendees)
> Wealthsimple's TLDR newsletter reaches ~1.8M readers a week
> HubSpot owns The Hustle, Mindstream & Starter Story
& these companies are hiring aggressively to fill storytelling and editorial roles:
> Anthropic: executive communications writer (up to $345k)
> Agility Robotics (they build humanoid robots): head of editorial & content (up to $268k)
> Ramp: finance storytelling lead (up to $220k plus equity)
we put together a report on why companies are doing this (and some of their best practices) if you're interested: https://t.co/wz27gGh2MU
probably a very unpopular opinion, but I think some of the best newsletters / podcasts / youtube channels will soon be owned and run by tech companies
We now can send reports of how your music is performing - plays, unique listeners and more, delivered to your inbox on a weekly basis.
