On the same day in 1964, they would play live on The Ed Sullivan Show to an estimated audience of 73 million people.

1959 - Jonny & the Moondogs played skiffle in the Empire Theatre
1961 - Under their new name, The Beatles, they played The Cavern Club
1962 - The Beatles played their 143rd lunchtime session in The Cavern
1965 - They visited the Palace to collect their MBEs.
On this day 1962 - The Beatles gave their 138th lunchtime performance at The Cavern Club. This was their 244th overall at The Cavern.
The following day The Beatles' debut single ‘Love Me Do’ was released. It reached number 17 in the charts.
