This morning, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. @ProfNawangwe, presided over the launch of the Social Innovation in Health Initiative Community of Practice (SIHICOP), a collaborative platform launched by Makerere University to foster peer learning, advocacy, and research in social innovation for improved health outcomes at the 6th National Social Innovation in Health Stakeholders’ workshop on 09th April 2025 at Hotel Africana, Kampala.
In collaboration with @TDR (Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases) and global partners like Sweden to advance health equity, SIHICOP aims to bridge gaps between grassroots health innovators, policymakers, donors, and stakeholders through capacity-building, knowledge exchange, and actionable research.
The VC commended the School of Public Health's role in research and hailed Dr. Phyllis Awor and the team for doing "what only world-class institutions achieve: melding razor-sharp academia with the wisdom of communities, policy muscle with frontline innovations."
The launch is being attended by MakSPH faculty, innovators, the Embassy of @SwedeninUG represented by Mr. Tomas Lundström, Counsellor Health/Humanitarian Focal Point, Embassy of Sweden in Kampala Uganda, @MinofHealthUG officials, among others.
Dr. Juliet Kiguli represented the Dean, Makerere University School of Public Health @RhodaWanyenze.
