And she's absolutely right. Where is he? And the rest of the cabinet, for that matter. There's surely no room for equivocation here. You either support the upholding of standards in public life, or you don't. What message does abstention send?

Worth remembering that not a single MP tried to stop Johnson being referred to the Privileges Committee. The House agreed to it on 21st April 2022, when Johnson was still PM, without division. This was a committee of Parliament, by Parliament, for Parliament.

This sort of claim isn't just false, it's actively dangerous.

The only people who could have "forced out" Johnson were his own constituents, in a by-election at Uxbridge.

He ran away, rather than face their judgement.

MPs should stop feeding these "establishment" fantasies.

Untruths being peddled everywhere.

Johnson wasn’t forced out by anyone but himself. The Privileges Committee (Conservative dominated) would recommend, the Commons (Conservative dominated) would vote, his constituents (Conservative majority) would decide.

He chose to quit.

I’ve now read the Johnson statement which is the definition of self-indulgent narcissism. His attacks on Harriet Harman and the committee are disgraceful and constitute a contempt of parliament in themselves. I don’t understand why Sunak has yet to condemn them.
