Let me share a story that happened about 4years ago during the COVID lockdown too. It happened in Osogbo, Osun State. I was driving on the new part of the Ring Road heading back to Lagos, when a Honda Accord guy overtook me with 3 guys inside blasting music. In
less than a minute the car somersaulted as they were descending the bridge over River Osun, the guy at the back was flung out of the car (definitely not on a seat belt) whilst the car hit the side barriers like 2ce before landing with the wheels up. I was directly behind them.
Vehicles stopped and most were lamenting and trying to rescue the other 2 guys. I kept asking who had the O-Ambulance number, no one did. I had to check online for the number, and I called. A lady picked up the call, she was very professional and requested the description of the scene of the incident. 2 ambulances arrived within 4 - 6 minutes because I timed it - the 1st was 4 minutes on the dot whilst the 2nd arrived within 5 minutes and 50+ secs.
We should trust the system a little bit more.
Last weekend, while driving to Epe, I came across a road accident that had just happened. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control after a tyre burst. Within seconds, the car swerved, somersaulted, and landed upside down, trapping the passengers inside.
People nearby didn’t hesitate. Strangers rushed in immediately. With bare hands and urgency, they flipped the vehicle and helped the passengers out. Thankfully, there were no fatalities, but the injuries were obvious. Pain was written all over their faces. The front-seat passenger had a deep cut, blood running down his face.
When I arrived, one question came to mind: has anyone called an ambulance?
I asked.
One man, busy taking photos, replied sarcastically, “Ambulance ke? That kind thing dey work for this country?”
That statement said a lot. It wasn’t just sarcasm; it was deep mistrust—years of disappointment and silence born from systems that have failed people repeatedly. And honestly, I don’t blame him. When institutions fail consistently, hope becomes a luxury. Our national orientation has not done enough to rebuild trust or remind citizens of what actually works.
I walked back to my car, brought out my phone, and dialed 112, the Lagos State emergency number.
The lady on the other end was calm and professional. She asked about the accident, the location, the number of victims, and my details. I provided everything. Before ending the call, she said words that mattered: “Help is on the way.”
I returned to the scene and informed the injured passengers. Despite the pain, I saw relief on their faces. Hope.
In my mind, I estimated 20 to 30 minutes.
But something unexpected happened.
In less than five minutes, the emergency response team arrived.
Sirens. Professionals. Speed. Efficiency.
Even me—an optimist—I was shocked. I didn’t even realize when I shouted, “Ah! Eko o ni baje o!”
In that moment, one thing was clear: Lagos is making progress. It may not be perfect, and there is still a lot to fix. I criticize this city constructively on my platform because I care.
But when something works, when lives are saved, when systems respond, we must also be honest enough to acknowledge it.
Eko o ni baje lai lai.

@_OlaideB@AngelaUzochukw1 This is absolutely the funniest thing I have seen today. She expects God to answer her prayers. I wonder which Bible and which God people like this pray to.
Those of us who are naturally peaceful, & mind our business… the day we lose it, it will not be small. I am honestly sick & tired of people dragging & cursing others on this TL. I have truly had it up to my neck. Why are some of you BB fans so vile & bitter? What exactly is your problem?
If you like your fave, hype them. Support them. Celebrate them. But why does it always have to come with hate, insults, and curses toward other housemates? That behavior is ugly & unnecessary. What annoys me the most is when people claim to be Christians but speak with so much hatred. You can’t say you love God and still carry such a dirty heart. Words matter. What you say about others shows who you really are inside. This level of cruelty is not normal, and it is not entertainment. It is draining and disappointing. Honestly, it irritates me so much. May God truly forgive some of you, because this behavior is not it.
