.@Lucyedyer said of our highly commended that expanding to TikTok was great but it was their flagship podcast which impressed the most - well done @beaveronline#SPANC23
Now on to the winner, whose piece was reported "sensitively and fairly" with an "economical writing style". The winner is an anonymous piece on China's A4 revolution from @beaveronline#SPANC23
So pleased to see my piece for @beaveronline has been shortlisted, alongside so many great features.
Charlotte’s bravery to share her experience with LSE’s sexual assault policies is forever commendable.
When I was a member of the su executive and board, it was clear that the board and executive could make decisions around budgets and make budgets work. The elected members should show leadership and just fund the paper. If they dont want to, they should show their hand and say so
This is shameful from @lsesu. Typical as well, to have elected officers say they wish to support but eventually failing at that. Put your money where your mouth is and make the commitments you know you can do.
An update: our petition to #SaveTheBeaver has amassed over 600 signatures, including support from current students and alumni that fondly remember the newspaper as an integral part of their student experience during their time at LSE decades ago.
We have now forwarded our petition — and your support — to the LSESU Board of Trustees. The ball is now in their court: they must take action to amend the bye-laws and save The Beaver.
The beaver was an incredibly productive interface for engaging with the LSE community, when I there as Features editor. I also saw it give many students serious exposure to the world of journalism (and beyond). The @lsesu can do better.
Student journalism is a huge net positive for society. It holds important institutions (in this case, LSE) to account, and provides an invaluable training ground and springboard for the next generation of journalists
