My thoughts are with the 11 lives lost in yesterday’s UPS aircraft crash in Louisville. Deepest condolences to their families and the entire UPS team.
Moments like this remind us of the risks faced by those who keep our skies moving. Yet aviation remains one of the safest ways to travel, today, over 4 million people will fly safely around the world.
As we pause to honour those lost, let us also acknowledge the hundreds of thousands of professionals, pilots, cabin crew, engineers, air-traffic controllers, baggage teams, regulators, all of whom dedicate themselves each day to keeping skies safe. Their work means that for the vast majority of us, flying remains not only possible, but remarkably reliable and safe.
Safe travels to all those who board an aircraft this very day, myself included, we carry in our hearts both gratitude and remembrance for those lives lost.

✈️ 3h37m in and you can listen to me tell the BBC how Air Traffic Control works! Great show @MichelleDignan and thank you for having me on! https://t.co/QDUteUqSZJ
@MikeMedFly Ah Mike I’m so sorry for your loss. You’re right, he was up there with you. I lost my older sister on my very first day at Manchester ATC. Every shift I feel closer to her at 200ft in the air. Best of wishes to you and your family at this time.
