@Rockingham12212 @CalltoActivism One of the problems in the past was that a person seeking asylum had to be in this country to apply. Hello Catch-22! They could be here up to two years without having gotten the paperwork started. Immigration laws need revamping but it's been decades since the borders were open.

@Rockingham12212 @CalltoActivism They weren't crossing into San Diego. They were stopped in Tijuana where people registered to cross. It was a true humanitarian crisis. You know what would help? If Americans stopped wanting illegal drugs to buy, sell and use. It contributes to displacement of other populations.

@Rockingham12212 @CalltoActivism "Encounters" just means  interactions between CBP agents & individuals, primarily covering arrests or cases where individuals are deemed inadmissible at PoE such as asylum seekers. Those stats can count some individuals multiple times as some people try to cross multiple times.
