Too often low childhood vaccination uptake is blamed on parents
But navigating the system can be far harder than it should be
Here I share my experience of barriers trying to access vaccinations in London
"Vaccine hesitancy matters, but barriers to access are being systematically overlooked."
Systemic weaknesses lost the UK its measles elimination status

Conducting research in LMICs is undeniably challenging, with brain drain often surpassing reverse brain drain. Grateful to
@NatureRevMicro for the opportunity to share an opinion discussing both the difficulties and rewards of working in this space. https://t.co/jzbdNGYjxr [1/2]
With universities unable to afford them, clinical academics across the country are being offered redundancy.
These are the people who teach our doctors and conduct ground breaking research.
More must be done to support them.

@RoryStewartUK on @RestIsPolitics suggests GPs did not want to adopt video call appointments because they resist change for the sake of resisting it. Says they did accept telephone consults
You completely omit the horrendously bad IT system which exists 1/2
2/2 Which means PCs take 10-15 mins to load up
Also shows your lack of understanding of how medical assessments work - yes sometimes phone/video call might work but often f:f required for full assessment
Also misses difficulty some pts face using technology & poor internet
Statutory maternity pay is lower than the level at which pensioners are about to lose their #WinterFuelAllowance
To suggest it’s “too much” is insulting & the gutter of dog whistle politics on every level. What is @KemiBadenoch on?

Surprised at the coverage of the Keir Starmer/Waheed Ali donations on @TheNewsAgents
Surely it is equivocal to doctors not being allowed to accept drug company hospitality, something banned years ago as research showed it influenced prescribing practice subconsciously…?
To describe it as “accepting something from a mate” seems a stretch - unless it’s normal for “mates” to give you thousands of ££ to help you in your career (if that is indeed what we’re saying the “donations” are)

I would *love* to understand how I have a “stranglehold” on the nhs. There are so many areas crying out for reform but no one ever asks the people actually working in the system how it could be improved.
@bbcnickrobinson@amolrajan
"The medical profession is locked into a way of life... they are deeply conservative."
Leading clinician Prof Sir John Bell tells @amolrajan and @bbcnickrobinson that Wes Streeting will have to face down the British Medical Association to reform the NHS.
