My friend Denise lives in the SGV and saw this on the window of Arcadia Donuts. The owners were impacted by the #MontereyPark shootings & gave some requests for the public. Please support them in ways that uplift their recovery from this, and respect their privacy in other ways.
Check out my live reporting of tonight’s Apache Name Information and Input Forum! Hopefully more live tweeting to come from @arcadiaquill in the future 🤞

LIVE UPDATES THREAD:
While the battle over the unhoused is centered in DTLA, Echo Park & Venice, there are fierce debates all over Southern California, including in Arcadia. A proposal to build 15 tiny homes was just put on an indefinite hold. #Arcadia#TinyHomes#Homelessness

@steamyporkbuns @jocelynthao_ Especially with the Tiny Shelter Project and shedding tears over how people are mad at the council members because they’ve been “working hard for 7 years” 😬
Was very shocked to hear this disturbing comparison. Verlato had to inform him that the project includes job training, mental health services, etc... Even I knew that.
Comparing genocide to tiny housing is not very appropriate as a mayor.
Arcadia Mayor Sho Tay compared tiny homes to "concentration camps" at tonight's city council meeting, saying the homeless in these small shelters would be "out of sight, out of mind without care." #Arcadia#TinyHomes#Homeless

Arcadia City Council votes to table talk of a Tiny Shelter Project to build 15 8 x 8 homes indefinitely, while agreeing to public forums on homelessness in English & Mandarin within 120 days. City will also form a citizen's committee "sometime in the future." #Arcadia#TinyHomes
Arcadia has been debating the construction of Tiny Shelters in convos that have gotten very heated. But this so much is clear: We must take real action to support our unhoused neighbors, and this is just one step forward.
I’m so happy @RyanPForan & I got to see this rockstar @ApacheBadminton player and #ausdDCI intern @KailinKLiu and her doubles partner, Andrea, take first place in CIFSS Individual Champs! You rock, Kathy! Looking forward to seeing you rock your senior season! 👏🏸❤️💛🙌💪
Officials say people are coming to Arcadia bc it’s on the Gold Line, has a large hospital & the Santa Anita Wash, where encampments crop up.
But many grew up in the area like Veronica Steele and would have priority to get a tiny home.
On a rainy day like this, there are several in our community who are unable to stay in closed, warm houses.
We came out today & showed our support for our unhoused neighbors in Arcadia. Thanks to
@AprilVerlato, @ArcadiaRaymond, and others for visiting!
