Today at 17:15, colleagues across EMR and the wider rail industry observed a minute’s silence, marking one week since the tragic incident at Bedford South.
We are deeply sorry that this has happened on our railway. Our thoughts continue to be with everyone affected, including those directly involved in the incident, their families, friends and colleagues.

@EastMidRailway
It was good to have an evening chat with councillors and local residents in Caldwell Ward Bedford yesterday.
I heard about local issues including antisocial behaviour, on-street drug dealing and hate crime.
We discussed the importance of prevention and reporting all crime.

This morning I have been talking to @Andyshowbiz on @BBC3CR about the scourge of cannabis farms in residential housing.
Organised crime gangs are taking over properties - often renting through estate agents and landlords - to create factories to farm cannabis.
@bedspolice have a good record of closing these down and arresting those responsible but they need community support.
Drugs and organised crime have a devastating impact on our communities and are at the root of much antisocial behaviour and other crimes
Including knife crime, cuckooing and modern day slavery.
So please report.
If you see suspicious activity at a property report it. This policing is dependent on intelligence.

Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the dreadful train collision on Friday — all those involved, their families and loved ones.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the emergency services, rail teams, volunteers and everyone who continue to provide support during such a difficult time.
The violent attacks in Edinburgh on Friday, in which five men were injured and worshippers were assaulted as they left a mosque, are a horrifying act of anti-Muslim hatred on British soil.
I send best wishes to those who were hurt, to their families, and to Muslim communities across Scotland and the wider United Kingdom, for whom these days will have been filled with fear and grief.
Our statement on the Edinburgh attacks.
“…we stand with every minority community that has felt the sharp edge of racism. We are all at our best when we stand together.”
