Er bestaat in Nederland een bijzonder politiek verschijnsel: de man die zelf met een jerrycan benzine het huis in brand zet, om vervolgens buiten met een brandblusser te gaan roepen dat hij altijd al had gewaarschuwd voor vuurgevaar.

Welkom in het wonderlijke wederopstandingsverhaal van Yernaz.

Jarenlang mocht hij bij FVD meepraten, optreden, twitteren, interviews geven en zichzelf presenteren als intellectueel rebel van de nieuwe generatie. Niemand knevelde hem. Niemand snoerde hem de mond. Integendeel: de partij gaf hem een podium waar hij zonder FVD waarschijnlijk was geëindigd als boze draadstarter op internet met zeven volgers en een profielfoto van Malcolm X.

Maar toen gebeurde iets ongemakkelijks. Yernaz deed wat in de politiek meestal onverstandig blijkt: hardop zeggen wat normaal gesproken ergens blijft hangen tussen cafépraat en mislukte podcasts. Uitspraken over ras en intelligentie. Niet geframed. Niet uitgelokt. Niet stiekem gemonteerd door een vijandige redactie. Nee. Gewoon rechtstreeks uit zijn eigen mond, alsof hij auditie deed voor een documentaire genaamd Hoe maak ik mezelf politiek onmogelijk in vijf minuten.

En ineens stond daar dezelfde man die zélf de politieke handgranaat zonder veiligheidspin had rondgeslingerd, alsof hij slachtoffer was geworden van een groot complot.

Nog mooier werd het toen hij daarna de rol van moreel aanklager van FVD op zich nam. Dat is ongeveer alsof de drummer van de Titanic na de botsing een seminar gaat geven over maritieme veiligheid.

Natuurlijk mag iedereen van politieke overtuiging veranderen. Mensen mogen groeien, twijfelen, afstand nemen. Maar doe dan niet alsof je jarenlang gevangen zat in een duistere sekte terwijl je in werkelijkheid vooral struikelde over je eigen uitspraken en je eigen ego.

Want laten we eerlijk zijn: FVD kreeg door Yernaz meer problemen dan Yernaz ooit door FVD kreeg. Dat is de echte ironie. De partij probeerde een jong intellectueel talent binnen te halen en eindigde met een wandelende PR-ramp die later ook nog colleges ging geven over fatsoen en democratie.

Nederland zit inmiddels vol met dat type figuur. Eerst maximaal profiteren van aandacht, netwerk en bekendheid en daarna plotseling met het gezicht van een schuldbewuste bekeerling uitleggen hoe gevaarlijk de voormalige vrienden eigenlijk waren.

En de media smullen ervan. Natuurlijk. Want niets vinden redacties lekkerder dan de afvallige insider. Zet hem aan tafel, geef hem een cappuccino en een podcastmicrofoon en ineens mag hij uitleggen hoe “extreem” iedereen om hem heen was.

Terwijl heel Nederland denkt:
vriend… jij was zelf toch degene met die uitspraken?

Maar in de moderne politiek bestaat een magische regel: wie op tijd afstand neemt van zijn oude kamp, krijgt direct een morele schoonmaakbeurt.

Een ideologische wasstraat.

Regarding the Nazi wolfsangel still seen behind Biletsky even in this most recent DW interview, the Telegraph says:

"The Azov men use the neo-Nazi Wolfsangel (Wolf’s Hook) symbol on their banner and members of the battalion are openly white supremacists, or anti-Semites."

Now Ukraine's Nazism is simply ignored as it expands out of control and spills constantly into the open, even in Germany which pretends to reject its Nazi past while supporting Ukraine's Nazi present.
