the cruel irony of something that happens to tribals, muslims and all marginalised communities all year long happening to kids of the middle class being the only way for the country to feel empathy and anger against the govt. is something to behold
Very sorry I’m bringing more discourse into TL 🤣🤣
But the worst argument against Chennai is that it doesn’t have a skyline 🤣🤣
Why do you want a skyline. Do you look at ugly and terribly tall buildings filled with florascent lights. and go - ah, the pinnacle of civilisation
I wonder why these kinsd of posts are quick to include the adjective "illiterate" when both BJP and Congress have highly literate ministers while its the 'illiterate' adivasis who are trying to save the forest and climate and taking the biggest blow.
So many graduates in quotes expressing outrage: ‘companies are hiring engineering grads at 27k a month while these people want 20k’
Somehow the problem isn't that graduates are being underpaid too. Somehow this isn't a moment of solidarity with other workers.
If you want to truly understand the utterly bizarre class inequality in India, we're currently seeing 2 big discourses:
1. Paying ₹9000 for a Hyrox race is not insane & fair price
2. Domestic labours demanding wage hike to ₹20000/month is greedy & unfair to the employer class
Fizzy lost her mother and sibling before turning 2 months old. We found her covered in ants, ticks and fleas
She has the won the hearts of all who have met her
If you're in Chennai and looking for a cuddly companion, please consider welcoming Fizzy to your home!

If this incident has made men think that if even something this small will be escalated in a way where they have to be afraid that their social standing will be lost, good. It is a fraction of the fear that women are taught every day.
Workers showed up despite fear, intimidation lack of legal protection. Consumers increasingly stand with workers demanding rights, not charity. A truly fair system wouldn’t fear unions, strikes, or laws. Dignity at work strengthens India—not denial. 3/3

Mr @deepigoyal@zomato claims ₹102/hour EPH (2025). But at 10 hrs/day × 26 days, gross ≈ ₹26,500. After fuel and maintenance (~20%), net is ~₹21,000/month—for 260 hours of work. That’s ~₹81/hour net, with no social security, no paid leave, no accident cover. 1/2
im probably going to get ratioed for this but it really needs to be said. we have to stop glorifying armed forces officers like they’re some superior class of humans. over the years a whole narrative has been manufactured- by the government, film industry, patriotic ads (1/3)

Authorities ignoring the absence of legally required turtle excluder devices, fishing in banned nearshore regions with illegal nets and engines, in waters where law enforcement is laborious has bred greedy vessel owners. Does the state fisheries ministry even exist?
