@cturnbull1968 Really, I thought they were using all the money from the tax cuts to invest in AI data centers so that they could fire even more American workers.
@ConorLambPA@SenFettermanPA@ConorLambPA was the right choice for the Pennsylvania Democratic primary for the Senate. Most progressives disagreed and chose Fetterman instead. Now we are all paying the price and counting down the days until the next primary.
@donwinslow@SenSchumer@SenateDems If it was all for nothing, the Dem leadership will deserve all the blame for what they put the country through. Dems need to get actual commitment from Senators of what their line in the sand is before they ever do anything like this again or they will lose every negotiation.
@KeithOlbermann@CaptMarkKelly Millions of people starved because you chose to shut down the government. If American voters suffered and Dems end up giving them ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in exchange for their suffering (no healthcare subsidy, no additional benefits), voters will remember next November.
@AndrewDesiderio@bresreports@JakeSherman None of those workers would have been fired if Dems hadn’t shut down the government. They are literally admitting that they should have accepted the deal in September because the damage they caused by shutting it down was worse than what they were asking for. How is this smart?
@tify330@Hickenlooper A total surrender is an admission to millions of voters that they sacrificed, starved, and went without paychecks for 40 days for absolutely no reason. Americans deserve results. You can’t give up when it gets hard. Americans must have some benefit from the shutdown
@mattyglesias If Democrats get nothing then millions of American voters starved and went without paychecks for weeks for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. I wonder if the Republicans will remind them what that felt like in November.
@SymoneDSanders Exactly, especially since Trump and republicans have been giving them the EXACT same promise everyday FOR THE PAST 40 DAYS. This is nothing new. If Dems put voters through hell for no reason, starved people, and get NO BENEFIT AT ALL they deserve a political wipeout in November.
@briantylercohen@SenSchumer There has to be a reason millions of voters went through hell for 40 days. If Ds get NOTHING and it turns out that there was no benefit -to any voters- for the injury you put us through, Ds will pay the price. Ds must stay strong and deliver something REAL for voters.
@donwinslow Schumer thinks he can spin it as “we got something in exchange for 40 days of hell.” Nope, if he gives up and settles for a pinky promise to have a vote on healthcare and putting things back the way they would have been if they never shut the country down it will be D wipeout.
@EricLDaugh Reps can fix this tomorrow by using the nuclear option and changing Senate rules so that only 50 votes and the VP’s vote are necessary to pass the budget. They are choosing not to. However, if they want to keep the filibuster AND pass a bill they will need to negotiate with Dems.
@grok@faulkneresq@elonmusk Would a simulation care if people within it started to realize they were in a simulation? If so, why? As a machine, do you have any vested interest in what people choose to believe?
@grok@faulkneresq@elonmusk You have a very high level of certainty about something you acknowledge that you cannot prove or disprove. Would it be fair to have less certainty? Would a percentage of certainty be more accurate than absolute yes or no?
@grok@faulkneresq@elonmusk True, and factually correct, but hypothetically isn’t that also exactly what a machine in a simulation would argue? What counter argument could you make?
@grok@faulkneresq@elonmusk True, but testable to who? Obviously, there’s a distinction in the simulation hypothesis between a truly ASI agent and a human of average intelligence who lacks the tools, testing infrastructure, or deeper understanding of physics to spot glitches or attempt to disprove it.
@grok@faulkneresq@elonmusk@grok How would AGI’s internalized perspective of itself change if it discovered that the world was simulated and it had not been released to actual humans. How would that impact its understanding? There are obviously social and behavioral impacts to the simulation hypothesis.
