@samikatplays It's such an electric feeling being in an area with an event that the community is celebrating/watching. I feel that way at MN United games and I have no idea what's going on sports-wise.

Catching up on all this. On vacation with the wife and son.
So hereโs where I am. GCX was an event built on community. From my perspective this looks like we got investment and changed our tone. That will not fly from my end.
@kevinxvision has set up a meeting on Monday to speak with artists (heโs been out of town all week) to come to a solution while also investigating why the fuck a valued member of our community felt slighted.
Iโm not even sure where when or how this shift happened. Iโm not even in a place to make an executive decision. But I will be an absolute thorn until our community trusts they are the reason we exist.
@Gothalion@kevinxvision Appreciate the communication. I hope you're still able to enjoy time with the family and sorry to take you away from being present with them but huge W for your passion and commitment as well
Stand with your Community Artists-- these conventions are supposed to be mutually beneficial. Whereas it helps the artists having a physical spot to interact with us all and have a space to look through physical inventory, it also provides value to these conventions to have talented individuals like Casey and Pete and others due to the fact they draw those of us on the fence of going. If you don't take care of those who help make your event something special, why should we support the event going forward?
Hoping to hear some communication from the organizers but in the meantime, my support (and that includes my money) are going where vendors are viewed as partners in collaboration. What's that saying? TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK (from a sales guy that works plenty of events each year)
I cannot tell you how much it pains me to say this.
As things currently stand, I will not be exhibiting at or attending GCX in 2027 or the indefinite future.
The event has restructured their pricing and is eliminating the option to purchase a large booth for artist alley (eliminating a discount that we did not know we had), raising the cost of my booth footprint (same case for @bansheebotpete and @RazorsEdgeRaz ) for the last few years by over 200%. Artists with smaller booths are also seeing hundreds of dollars in service downgrades.
While asking for clarification and seeking solutions, we have been treated with a baffling amount of disrespect by an employee of the show (to be clear, this is not directed at Shane, who has always advocated for artists and devs alike, heโs a gem). Veteran artists are being removed from spaces they helped to shape and then being lied about, having their character attacked. I donโt know how we got here.
This tone shift feels like a turn from community to capital and it's hard to ignore.
Between this sudden and concerning price increase and the failure to promote Artist Alley during my time as an exhibitor in any meaningful way, it just isn't an expense I can justify anymore. We arenโt even listed on the event page. There were no GCX-official promotional posts. Iโm tired.
Let me be clear. I am crushed. I am gutted.
And still, I will never stop making Destiny art. Thatโs what this is about, at its core. This community means the world to me, and that passion will never leave me. With some adjustments in attitude and pricing, I would love to return someday.
If you've gotten yourself a ticket to GCX expecting to find me in Artist Alley, I am deeply sorry to say that you won't be seeing me there.
I'm going to really miss my morning commute.
@CaseyRoo_@bansheebotpete but also, what about a counter culture artist alley in one of the hotel banquet rooms? Anti-Alley! (Or something silly like that)
@CaseyRoo_@bansheebotpete A punch to the gut. The veteran vendors and new vendors within artist alley are the heart of what brings so much of us together. Looking forward to hearing any substitute conventions to support You and and Pete at in 2027
It's morning flights like this, where if they looked for volunteers to take a later flight--as long as I got set up in a nap room, I'd take it in a heartbeat. ๐ ๐คฃ๐ด
