@FBChaiTrading Same pain here honestly
markouts are the real bottleneck
Are you measuring at a fixed horizon (30s/1min) or adaptive? Curious if widening min_spread helps you or just kills fill rate
MM bot update
New iteration: targeting much calmer markets with wider spreads — ~15 bps avg on base:0x1111111111166b7fe7bd91427724b487980afc69 .
Over 5-6 sessions, ~100 fills total. First two sessions were unprofitable, but the following ones turned net positive. Sharpe ratio is still not satisfying though, so more work needed on consistency before scaling up capital.
Net positive now, but variance is still too high to size up
MIT put online the exact 1-hour lecture that quant funds pay $600K/year for people to understand
it's the math behind every trading system on wall street: random walks and Markov chains
The part that breaks people's brains:
the professor mathematically proves that in a fair game, no strategy can ever win
not a clever one, not a complicated one. none. your expected profit is locked at zero
So how do quants make billions with the same math?
simple: they never play fair games
they use this exact lecture's tools to find games where the odds are tilted (even 1%) and then repeat the bet thousands of times until math turns the tilt into guaranteed profit
Casinos run on it. hedge funds run on it. the best Polymarket wallets run on it
that's the whole secret. no prediction, no gut feeling. find the tilt, repeat, let the math work
1 hour, free, from MIT. the same material costs $50K/month in quant salary
Save this and watch tonight
I used to filter OB by spread width for my MM bot
Completely wrong
Small spread + real flow > wide spread + no flow
High volume means nothing if it's wash traded you can't capture it
Took me a while to figure that out
Market selection is the alpha, not the strategy
Starting to get my MM bot profitable on Hyperliquid
But I don't quote every market
Order book selection matters more than the strategy itself. Volume, OI, taker flow and most importantly: no wash traders on the other side
Binance Perps last 24h:
→ $405M liquidated
→ 77% were longs
→ BTC -5% · ETH -10% · SOL -7%
→ Fear & Greed at 12
→ CT in full "crypto is dead" mode
The market transfers money from impatient hands to patient ones.
The others provide the liquidity.
