Today is the start of a new project for me. @BeforetheRoll is going to document the creation of a community meant to offer resources for others in the TTRPG space. Focusing on all of those who make the TTRPG community what it is.

@playoticgames Then I consider the table, the tone people want, themes, my role and my PC’s role

Finally I figure out one absolute absurdity about the character. Something that would really drive me nuts, but grounds the PC.

The rest of it is just picking options and rolling dice.

@playoticgames The first thing I do is remind myself that your 1-shot character is always more compelling than your campaign character. We always take campaign characters too seriously, but we feel free to have fun and do stupid things in 1-shots.

8 years in and I don’t think it’s possible to overstate how important CR has been to the renaissance in TTRPGs.

The opportunities they have created for all of us to tell stories, regardless of game or setting, is beyond anything I could have imagined.
