Today, I attended the national summit and exhibition held under the theme "Data Sovereignty for Policy Autonomy," which celebrated Ethiopia's monumental achievement in its journey toward data and statistical sovereignty.
The remarkable progress I observed in this sector is highly encouraging. In this era, data is a strategic asset and a foundational pillar of sovereignty essential for building a strong nation-state. Because borrowed data or reliance on external entities cannot fulfil our national aspirations, collecting and analysing our own data through domestic capacity is a critical input to guarantee policy independence.
Above all, witnessing data collection and analysis being driven by the knowledge and skills of our own citizens is a source of immense national pride. Furthermore, our focus on data must not only target quantifiable metrics but must also centre on human-centric approaches that bring tangible improvements to the lives of our citizens.
The story of the newly inaugurated Arada Park is one of profound transformation, a landmark project officially unveiled today in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. What was once a 40-hectare area of neglected, hazardous, and dilapidated housing has been reimagined into a premier multi-purpose urban destination. This project isn’t just a park; it is a masterclass in integrated infrastructure and land-use efficiency. By renovating over 700 existing homes and buildings, we have ensured that development uplifts the community.

I met Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, @PauloRangel_pt, today to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in key areas.
Ethiopia's Govt has hard decision regarding Tigray's participation in June elections. US history shows we badly mishandled bringing rebel states back into the union. Ethiopia's national reconciliation needs Tigrayan people to be able to fully participate.

I welcomed President @Isaac_Herzog of Israel today for productive discussions during his official visit. We explored the relations between Ethiopia and Israel and considered ways to improve collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
President @RTErdogan, it is my privilege to share with you the warm hospitality my country has to offer you, a place where you will never feel like a stranger but a dear friend. Here, we can sip the very coffee that was first discovered in these lands while discussing a range of issues and crafting a tangible partnership rooted in the vast opportunities our partnership provides.
As we host this summit in Addis Ababa, we reaffirm our readiness to work with Italy, with our African brothers’ and sisters, and with all partners committed to turning strategic dialogue into development outcomes that improve lives.
