I made this cube using Direct3D a couple of months ago during the inhuman internet blackout. I’d like to continue working on it someday so I can render textures on the screen and finally replace SDL. Doing things from scratch is a lot of work but I love it.
It’s been raining all day here. I used to hate the rain because it interfered with my internet, but I love the sound of rain, so sometimes I listen to a rain noise while programming.
Kinda late on this but here are:
Three games I played and loved as a kid
Three games my cousin gave me when I first got my PC
Three games I absolutely love but have never finished
There are many more games that I love...
If I'm not learning then I'm wasting time. To me being a good programmer is a life long goal and I know that I might never be as good as good programmers but at least I can be better than most.
I participated in a game jam last week to try something new and also practice some game design. I couldn't finish it in time, but at least I learned a lot by not using AI. I would rather not finish a project and learn a lot than finish it and not learn anything.
I'm currently working on a placeholder inventory UI, and I feel like programming the UI is taking as much time as the game itself. I know it's better to spend time making the game fun instead of implementing UI, but I need to be able to test things.
Soon I'll have to work on the game design aspects of my game. I had a lot of ideas but I decade to keep most of them for the next game. and instead make the current one as simple as possible. but of course designing a game is a long time process and it can change.
So far, 2026 has been a crazy year here, first the massacres and then the war, and all the internet blackouts. which all of this discouraged me from working on my game for a while, but I'm back on track now. making games is hard on it's own.
It's been about a month since I last posted about the game I'm working on. I think I've been going through some kind of burnout. whenever the existing code needs a big change, I always feel like it will be so hard to do because of all the bugs that I have to fix.
