The Word, then, the Christ, is the cause both of our ancient beginning—for He was in God—and of our well-being. And now this same Word has appeared as man. He alone is both God and man. Learn the beautiful arrangement of the Word of God.
- Clement of Alexandria
As the inverse image of The Image, humanity was designed to behold the Word of God - as in a mirror. Reading the Holy Scriptures was never to be a replacement.
Gratitude is impossible without attention. You cannot thank God for a meal you ate while staring at a screen. You cannot thank Him for a sunrise you slept through, or a friendship you have stopped tending, or a body that has carried you faithfully through decades you took for granted. The reason so many of us feel spiritually flat is not that God has stopped giving; it is that we have stopped noticing. Attention is the soil in which thanksgiving grows, and a soul that learns to attend slowly becomes a soul that cannot stop giving thanks.
“The only true & steadfast Teacher, the Word of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, who did, through His transcendent love, become what we are, that He might bring us to be even what He is Himself.”
- St. Irenaeus of Lyons
Simone Weil saw it clearly. Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity. To give someone your full, undivided attention is to give them existence. Most of what we call relationship is an exchange of distractions wearing the costume of presence.
@markchironna Great provoking questions.
The fused bond within the Godhead is patterned by Love and trust…each Person distinctly different, yet selflessly yielding to the Other while being vulnerable without restriction. Philippians 1:27-2:11 is the way.
@Denali_Shepherd “I will not develop some calculus to determine which path of destruction I will support.” 🤯
Sad article full of word salad....placing precedence (masked in equality) on character flaws that are in process vs. LIFE and its potential founded in new beginnings baffles me.
