@BreRVA It's blown up in the knitting, and now the crocheting, community. Perhaps a local yarn shop. Surprisingly many indie owned ones are posting about it
Every mainstream newspiece about Alice will talk about everything.
Everything except for her work to challenge/decenter whiteness in disability activism & her advocacy/fundraising for Palestine.
Don't hide what she fought for. Elevate BIPOC/racialized disabled folks & Palestine
Whenever you see a media outlet calling Alice a disability rights activist, please know that the wording suggests she advocated within the law.
No.
She fought for full equity and a full changing of society to one that does not legislate poverty, disability, death, access, etc
There is a difference between disability rights (rights for disabled folks under the law) & disability justice (nuanced, intersectional, sociopolitical culturally-led access, equity, community care & celebration that disrupts & reframes).
The two should not be conflated.
Them “I’m sick of subsidizing their groceries when mine cost so much”
SNAP does not drive up grocery prices
It’s inflation, tariffs & corporate greed
For every $1 spent on SNAP there’s a $1.50 going back into the economy
While you’re blaming the poor, the rich are robbing you
I hate to say this, but there's been another loss in the community. I'm sitting on it while we draft the messaging with family. But yes. A third major disability and EDS advocate. Ugh. Stay tuned. 💔🥺✌️
As a long-time admirer of Alice Wong,
I’m heartbroken and a bit shaken by her passing. 😢💔
You never think your heroes are going to die, and she was truly a Wonder Woman here on Earth. Alice, you will forever be missed and loved by me and countless others.
Rest in peace!
Not so fun fact, just months ago, the woman known for her work on the principles of disability justice (Patry Berne) also died.
We've lost so many disabled people this year. Last year. Every year. And way too many of them are racialized/BIPOC/POC.

i took my profile picture off Linkedin (my real name causes people to assume that i'm white)
and i've gotten 300% more interactions in a week, than i have in months. my analytics crazy
all because people now DONT know that im Black when they visit my page
this shit is sick
i’m seeing people who don’t adhere to COVID mitigation efforts at all anymore erase what Alice has been about in the last few years. i’m also seeing people make the worst assumptions about her friends. losing Alice is hard but please respect the circles of grief around her.
honor Leslie and Alice's lifework and memory by wearing a goddamn mask. if you have easy access to respirators, it's the least you can do.
if you don't, PLEASE check https://t.co/W2sn2VlgvA to see if there are any mask blocs in your area. mask blocs provide masks, other PPE, tests etc to their communities for free. if you scroll down my beacon link in bio thru the bottom half of my covid resources, there are several types & brands of masks at different price points.
if you're able to give some of your masks away, please do. hand them out in public. give them to your family, friends, coworkers, loved ones. fucking do something.
My feed is filled with beautiful stories of Alice and Leslie and the legacy that is their advocacy.
Both fought tirelessly for the vulnerable.
They fought for tbe disabled.
They fought for covid mitigations.
We need more people like them, and we must keep up the fight.
@BeingCharisBlog I’m sorry that happened to you Charis while ur trying to grieve the loss of such a vital disability advocate.
if only those ppl would actually blame the actual careless healthcare system that threw Alice and other immune compromised folks like me under the bus for convenience
@Annatated Dissecting one of the most prominent voices since day one against covid minimizing & eugenics is so fucking counterproductive.
Thanks for trying.
So someone went after my friend Charis, who has CLEARLY advocated for better (co-founded of the #HighRiskCovid19 hashtag) and who is currently grieving their actual friend.
