Instead of sending students to teachers that we think are better for them we need to become better and focus on building those relationships and reflecting on who we are as teachers. These are our students and no student should ever feel that their teacher doesn't care. #TCH26410

Even by the age of 6, students have already been impacted by biases. As teachers, we need to respond to our students in meaningful ways and help them to recognize things that they have grown up hearing and incorporate change in our curriculum. #TCH26410

School districts need to focus more on the environment they create and the way it influences students. Teachers need to be trained and learn how to create meaningful relationships. Black girls need to be heard and understood, rather than criminalized for their actions. #TCH26410

Teaching for black lives doesn't have to be based only on what the textbook shows. We can integrate literacy and the use of other sources to allow our students to see different perspectives. Peterson showed students wonder about these things and pose their own questions.#TCH26410

I have always known I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in 2nd grade. I love getting to see my students grow and the excitement they get when they accomplish something. I also love that I am constantly learning alongside them and learning something new each day! #TCH26410
