If Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer is telling the truth, eleven jurors want her not guilty and one male juror is the only thing standing in the way. That would mean this country has already failed Cora, Dawson, and Callan again.

Those three children are gone. That is the only fact that should matter. Their mother ended their lives. She has not denied that. And a large part of the room still appears ready to spare her the immediate consequence.

Do not get pulled into the sideshow. The lawyer yelling at the judge. The woman photographing jurors. None of that is the story. The story is three dead children and a society that keeps looking for a way not to hold their mother accountable.

This is where we are. When a culture spends years treating the unborn as optional, it should not surprise anyone that the lives of small children get devalued too. That rot does not stay in one category. It spreads.

Alan Rickman gave us an iconic, dry-witted movie hero, but his performance made everyone forget that Severus Snape was supposed to be a bitter, deeply unsettling 31-year-old man who terrified 11-year-olds in a dark dungeon.

The original movies aged up the entire adult cast by 20 years to fit Rickman, wiping out the tragic reality that the first Wizarding War was fought by traumatized 20 year olds.

Trying to replace Rickman with a cheap impression would fail instantly. The HBO series shouldn't try to copy his charm, they need to lean into the younger, dangerous, book-accurate Snape that the movies never gave us.
