@o_uilliam@Independent_ie Because the other sibling had all the caring responsibilities. I had a similar arrangement with my older sister she looked after our parents and maintained the house so should rightly inherit. They still split it but I signed over, she deserved it
@DawnDawniew62@GlenMitchell1 You realise as soon as he’s elected it doesn’t become a dictatorship and he can be democratically removed? But maybe you think the U.K. population should just put up with whatever for fixed terms
@ElaineCrory I’ve raised it twice, with the dup and tuv reps that came to my door and asked them did they not think there were more important things than the protocol, especially considering they (dup) voted against May. Haven’t mentioned it to any other candidate
@therealboduck@evantesseract@BRWinter@fuckyouiquit That’s actually a myth that has grown legs, you certainly can give a bad reference in the U.K. and you see reference forms with simple tick boxes on suitability such as time keeping etc that is easily backed up. I’ve given and received plenty of bad references
@DuckyVSTerfs @deelaffan But it’s inconsistent and leads to unconscious bias where statically I would get a better service than you would. There’s been plenty of studies on this. Instead, like in all other sectors, pay people a decent wage and not have them rely on tips
@Freedailytrades@sunnijen @Steve63296949 @deelaffan No actually I did not come up with these theories there’s been numerous studies on it easily found if you’d like to not be so ignorant on the subject
Teachers are in the news this week amid the usual Easter conferences
I saw this and it got me thinking... how (un)affordable is housing for them? 🏘️
Can a teacher claim they'll *never* be able to afford to buy?
Time for some numbers 🤓

@DuckyVSTerfs @deelaffan Which gives the workers no guarantee. Put that cost into the service you actually pay for and don’t let staff rely on customer discretion
@Trevor80014008 @deelaffan How is willing to pay more for a service tight? Let the restaurant put up the prices. You stop being tight by expecting people to work for pittance instead of being guaranteed a decent wage
@sunnijen @Steve63296949 @Freedailytrades @deelaffan retail staff on their feet all day and having to put up with customers, none of my kids though when going for a job in retail were sold the opportunity of tips to make up for the minimum wage. If we keep tipping and normalise it we disadvantage people from expecting a decent wage
@Freedailytrades @deelaffan I never claimed to be tight as I said I’d happily pay more to ensure that staff are paid a decent wage and not have to rely on tips
@mlchealth@bbcradioulster@rcgp_ni It has worked great for me, granted I’ve availed of it twice, instead of waiting days for an appointment for a recurring sinus problem I have got a call back later that day and picked up my prescription a couple of hours later
@kencurtin@Buseireann@HSELive@gardainfo Would love to hear that call to the gardai, a passenger told me I wasnt following advice, he’s a danger arrest him! Imagine the guards laughing at that one
