People can be incredibly cruel to people with albinism. Many people with albinism grow up navigating comments and attitudes that chip away at their dignity and sense of belonging.

Exactly one month ago, I launched my first book, Before You Say That.
Today, exactly 286 people have downloaded it. For a book about disability-inclusive language, that’s 286 people who have chosen to question what they know and learn something new. Thank you. 💜
If you haven’t downloaded it yet, here are a few reasons you should:
📖 Have you ever seen a dictionary that doesn’t define words, but breaks down why certain words, phrases, and expressions can be harmful to the disability community and what to say instead? Well, this is the very first-of-its-kind.
📖 It’s arranged from A to Z, so you can jump to any word that catches your attention.
📖 It’s colourful, visual, and designed to be engaging. No giant walls of text or academic jargon.
📖 It was intentionally designed with accessibility in mind, from font choices and spacing to colour contrast and readability.
📖 You don’t need to read all 150+ entries in one sitting. Read one word a day and you’ll spend the next few months learning something new every day.
📖 It will challenge you. Some pages will make you nod. Some pages will make you uncomfortable. Some will make you disagree while some might even make you want to look for me and fight me.
That’s OKAY. 😃
The goal was never to make people comfortable, but to make us think and become more aware. Many of the words we use every day were normalised long before we understood their impact on disabled people. And sometimes the biggest barrier to disability inclusion isn’t a staircase. It’s a sentence.
My bigger dream for this book goes far beyond downloads. I want to print copies and donate them to primary and secondary schools across Nigeria because disability inclusion should not be something people discover for the first time as adults. Children need to learn it early.
I also hope to translate the book into different Nigerian languages and eventually other international languages, while continuing to release future volumes with new words, phrases, and conversations.
This is only Volume 1. We’re just getting started. So if you’ve been putting it off, this is your sign to get Before You Say That. 286 people have already downloaded it, join them.
Before You Say That is completely FREE.
Download it, read it, challenge it, share it. And most importantly, start conversations with it.

For a population of 220 million, there are fewer than 100 rheumatologists in the entire country.
That is roughly 1 specialist for every 2–7 million people leaving those with autoimmune diseases like lupus to fight for survival on their own.
