🇺🇸🇮🇷 Belgium warmly welcomes the announcement of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, aimed at ensuring peace, including in Lebanon. We commend the intensive efforts of Pakistan, Qatar and all other mediators to reach that result.
We hope for a swift implementation and re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz, with unconditional and unrestricted freedom of navigation. We stand ready to help to ensure this.
This deal must open a new era for the region. It must also open a new era in Iran. An era without nuclear programme and with authorities hearing the legitimate democratic aspirations of their citizens.

🏳️🌈 Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
Belgium believes every person deserves to live freely and safely - to love who they love, to be who they are, without fear. We stand with the LGBTQI+ community, today and every day.

Behind every story from a war zone is someone risking their life to tell it.
On #WorldPressFreedomDay, Belgium 🇧🇪 remembers all journalists & media crew who didn’t come home. Under international law, they are civilians. Never a target.

Listening to the living voices of Holocaust survivors—people who carry memory within them, and who choose to share it—is at the heart of the Zikaron BaSalon initiative. It is a unique and deeply human way of transmitting Holocaust memory.
As a European diplomat, I deeply value this tradition, as it speaks directly to our shared history. To listen, to learn, and to carry these stories forward is both a privilege and a responsibility.
In many ways, these stories form part of the foundation of our modern diplomatic toolbox—shaped precisely to prevent such destruction and tragedy from ever happening again. The rules-based world order, and the values of human dignity, protection of the vulnerable, and international solidarity, are all under immense pressure today.
Last night, I had the great privilege of welcoming to the Residence Belgian-Israeli Holocaust survivor Mr. Arnold Wolkowicz, 97, born in Liège. A truly remarkable individual and storyteller, he expressed profound gratitude to the Belgian people who helped and saved him repeatedly during the Second World War—ordinary people who sheltered Jewish children like Arnold, asking nothing in return.
His words stayed with me: “When I think about Belgium, I think about humanity.
It was an evening to remember.

As #Israel marks 78 years of independence, we recognise the resilience of Israeli society, shaped by challenge and renewal.
The Belgian Embassy stands with the Israeli people today, with a sincere wish for peace and security - for Israelis, and everyone in the region.
🇧🇪🇮🇱
🕯️ We Remember
On #YomHaShoah, the Embassy of Belgium in Israel remembers and honors the six million Jews murdered in the #Holocaust. We stand firmly against #antisemitism - anywhere, anytime, in any form.

Wishing all those celebrating a meaningful Passover.
In times of heightened conflict and uncertainty, may this holiday of freedom and renewal bring moments of reflection, resilience and hope - for quieter days and a more peaceful future ahead.

Thanks to @BelgiuminIsrael for organizing a visit to the HQ of Magen David Adom in Ramle today for more than a dozen European ambassadors. Interesting insights into the impressive work of the only national emergency medical service & blood services organization.
Humanitarian coordination with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society is part of that same lifesaving effort - a practical bridge helping ensure care reaches people on both sides when it matters most.
@PalestineRCS
🚑 Magen David Adom - Israel’s emergency medical service - relies on 39,000 volunteers & staff, reaching people in just 3–4 minutes, thanks to smart dispatch & geolocation.
At the initiative of the Belgian Embassy, diplomats from 15 countries 🇪🇺🇨🇭🇦🇱 visited their command center.
What stands out most are the people: (para)medics who run out while others run for shelter.
First responders reflect the diversity of communities across the country - Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Druze - it’s coexistence in action.
🇮🇱 The missile strikes recently reported in southern Israel's Dimona and Arad have caused again intolerable suffering and damages. I express solidarity with the civilians affected. All parties to the conflict must avoid targeting civilians and civilian infrastructures. I call for maximum military restraint in the region, in particular when it comes to nuclear facilities.
@BelgiumMFA
🇧🇪 Our Embassy brought together ambassadors & diplomats from 16 European countries in #BeitShemesh, at the site of the Iranian missile strike that killed 9 and wounded 80. Standing with those affected and with all who carry the weight of this war, here and in the region.
🇧🇪🇺🇸 Constructive exchange with Ambassador Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun @StateSEAS, the US Special Envoy for the fight against antisemitism, on how to address the global rise in antisemitism.
The recent hideous attack in Liège has sadly reminded us how urgent it is to address the concerns of the Jewish community. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it: antisemitism must be confronted clearly and firmly. The fight against antisemitism is a priority of the Belgian government and this must be translated in further actions and a reinforcement of the existing initiatives. Because protecting our citizens and ensuring that everyone feels valued is an investment in our collective future.

An explosion occurred in front of a synagogue in Liège last night. Antisemitism is an attack on our values and our society, and we must fight it unequivocally. We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community in Liège and across the country.
Iranian attacks continue. I condemn them in the strongest possible terms. I have been in contact with my counterparts in the region, expressing Belgium’s full solidarity.
Many Belgian citizens live in the Middle East, have family there, or are travelling or transiting there currently. Our embassies are fully mobilised and ready to assist.
Please follow the instructions of local authorities, seek shelter where advised, and do not hesitate to call our crisis line, open 24/7: +32 2 501 40 00.
