FYI this isn't stopping. There have been 18 mass shootings SINCE Uvalde.
You need to know this. Because it's not going to stop until we do something.
1/ Here's just a sampling of the slaughter in the last six days:
To everyone impacted by the horrific elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas: We grieve with you. We pray with you. We stand with you. And we’re committed to turning this pain into action.
Abbott came to El Paso after 23 of my neighbors were massacred. He promised to “do everything we can to make sure a crime like this doesn’t happen again."
He not only lied to us, he chose to make it easier for it to happen again.
We prevent the next one by voting him out.
Every Texas Republican I've heard say it's not the time to politicize guns this week will be speaking at a political convention about guns this week in Houston.
When your elected officials consistently act against the public interest, follow the money.
When they lie, and misdirect, and shirk, follow the money.
This is a pattern, but it’s one we have the power to stop.
We must do everything we can to elect new leaders in November.
Alithia was killed yesterday.
Her parents welcomed me into their home today. Balloons from Alithia’s 10th birthday were still up as was her amazing art.
They want the world to know what a beautiful, talented, happy girl she was. They never want this to happen to another kid.
“Now is the time to stop the next shooting ... In each case we say this isn’t the time. Now is the time — like, literally right now. That’s why I’m here.”
— Texas gubernatorial candidate @BetoORourke on Gov. Greg Abbott saying now is not the time to politicize a shooting
My opponent voted for open carry, to allow guns in churches & school parking lots, and has a 92% NRA rating. His prayers won't help the victims and won't change the violence yet to come.
We're past prayers, we need action. When elected, I will fight for common-sense reform.
Governor Abbott, if you have any decency, you will immediately withdraw from this weekend’s NRA convention and urge them to hold it anywhere but Texas.
Eva Mireles. The 4th grade teacher who was murdered in Uvalde, Texas today.
From her aunt, Lydia Martinez Delgado: "I'm furious that these shooting continue, these children are innocent, rifles should not be easily available to all."
The moment to stop Uvalde was right after Sandy Hook. After Santa Fe High. After El Paso.
Instead, Abbott made it easier to carry guns in public.
The moment to stop the next slaughter is right now.
Such an honor to hold a town hall at VFW Post 9191, the first Black VFW in the organization. For years, it was the only VFW post where Black service members could meet.
Thanks to everyone who joined us as we committed to finally delivering for EVERY veteran across Texas.
