Fauci gets the best results from this. This is most likely the least legal trouble he could get into. If he refused to show up it would be more problems for him. If he testified he would have multiple perjury charges. This was his smartest move, it is the least damaging as far as federal charges. The DOJ will still have to indict Fauci for any charges by the Senate. This gives him time and legal maneuvers with the least amount of penalties he could face.

@EricLDaugh Obstruction is far less criminal than many perjury charges he would get by talking. The DOJ will have to act on what the Senate recommends and if they charge him with obstruction, it will make a Supreme Court case that might exonerate him anyways.

Using references efficiently will be nice and being able to use a recorded audio voice will be fantastic (if the lip sync is solid), no more having to edit in the corrected audio in an editor.
