From smoking ceremonies to building a yarning circle and learning local language, students across WA commemorated National Reconciliation Week to learn about Aboriginal histories, cultures and achievements. Read here ๐ https://t.co/z76S5XNDUa
One assignment left to go! This semester has gone so quickly. Iโve learnt so many practical things this semester that I will carry with me through my teaching #acuedu_p
Thereโs some great ideas here. I love the idea of the google form as some children may be embarrassed to share their current emotions in front of the whole class or have it on display #acuedu_p
I do love these set-ups, sometimes you walk into a classroom and itโs sensory overload! Itโs so important to deliberately think about what goes in the space and what the students want too. #acuedu_p
Interesting concept! I do like that everyone starts with 4โฆstudents could also get extra blocks for demonstrating respectful behaviour that leads to a reward #acuedu_p
@MrGTownson@MrTs_NQTs I have a pretty tough class who are rowdy. I use these cubes and it works quite well! I call them โshout out cubesโ. Each child gets 4 and lose 1 each time they shout out and then the consequence that suits when all gone (part of break lost etc). ๐
Attended a lecture for EDFD462 with guest @jamiewahab.
It was so helpful to hear a principalโs perspective what to do and what not to do in teacher interviews. It defiantly reduced the anxiety associated with them! #acuedu_p
Attending a meeting on Inclusion and it reminded me that sometimes as educators we can engage in โaccidental exclusionโ, so itโs so important that we consistently engage in critical reflection to ensure weโre actively pursuing inclusion constantly #acuedu_p
If you're an early years teacher or need more knowledging on unpacking Phonics in the classroom, this video has great teaching ideas and resources #acuedu_p https://t.co/aQseLvO26V via @YouTube
Itโs so exciting and nerve wracking entering the classroom but it was so great to hear the advice of early year teachers. One of the main things I took was to take it day by day and seek support from more experienced educators #acuedu_p
So lovely to see my class so engaged in purposeful and fun revision of fractions, decimals, percentages, calculating with money and problem solving as they invented their own pizza companies, menus and etc. So many mathematical connections and so much fun. ๐
Watching my lecture today made me realise that these are ladders we often see as teachers, however, when Ss are consistently in the red zone, this becomes the behaviour that they expect from themselves rather than wanting to climb up the ladder #acuedu_p
One thing I would like to learn more about as I transition into my profession is strategies and methods for curriculum compacting. We as teachers have so much to teach, and this is such a valuable strategy that can help our classrooms be more effective and efficient #acuedu_p
After drafting my first assignment, Iโve learnt how many network and support groups there are for teachers, particularly within social media. These forums are a great way for sharing ideas ideas and supporting one another with challenges we may encounter #acuedu_p
Started using these visual prompt cards. These are a great resource for the whole class and students with additional needs or students with EAL/D. I can wear them around my neck and simply hold them up as needed. #acuedu_p
When reflecting on assessment, I believe it involves looking at representations of students current knowledge and skills and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of studentโs work and of your own teaching. This data then informs future planning #acuedu_p
