To say I am heartbroken would be a gross understatement. Coach Dana Dimel died in his sleep last night. Words cannot express how he helped in the healing process of losing our Luke. He took a chance on a kid coming off cancer and honored him every day. Luke never played a down at UTEP, but coach has told me it was the best signing he has ever made. That says it all. RIP, Coach. You have your tight end back and he has his coach.
Dana Dimel impacted countless student-athletes and people through his football journey and the Illinois famILLy was lucky to have him on our staff.
Our love and thoughts are with his family.
