@vindicated_mike@hulu@andscape Dude, your film is like a love letter to me + my experience. I was low level 94-99: C. Rica, Ireland, Malta, Mauritius + Switz. But I could have been any one of the guys in your doc! I draw on my overseas experience daily as an executive, a coach, a dad, and a husband. THANK YOU!
Catching up on a rare Saturday off; we had to take a break given team injuries and illness. Mixed week with Tues 57-42 loss to a good SHP team and last night 68-40 win vs scrappy ECP. Need to get healthy as we enter the home stretch! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
2-0 week! Solid wins vs CSUS (56-19) and Nueva (61-18) on the back of solid defensive effort and good offensive execution. Big week ahead! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
39 proves unlucky this week as we unfortunately go 0-2. HMB 65 Menlo 39. Proud effort from our available players, but just too much injury and illness to give a very good HMB team any real competition. Back at it Tues vs CSUS and Fri vs Nueva. @MenloBoysBball@MenloKnights
So…shooting 9-19 on FTs & turning the ball over 21 times doesn’t help you win games?! Found out the hard way: Collegiate School NYC 44 Menlo 39. Tough loss. Need to be better tmrw vs Half Moon Bay and also fight through a thin bench given illness and injury. @MenloBoysBball
Ended up 2-2 at the St Francis (La Canada) Holiday Tourney after winning our final game 52-49 vs El Camino Real. Grew as a team and showed grit & determination in navigating a brutal 4-game stretch! Congrats Tate Cohen for being named All-Tourney. @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
Playing catch up; tourneys = blur of shootaround/team-outing/team-meal/game/film-study/repeat! Last night St Bona 53 Menlo 49; hard-fought loss.Tonight great bounce-back win Menlo 53 Shalhevet 38. Plus an amazing Rose Bowl tour earlier! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
Fell just short to a very good St. Francis (La Canada) team: StF 60, Menlo 57. Fought to the end + had our chances in last few seconds; nothing to hang our heads over. Great game & effort! Santa Monica Pier for lunch, then 630pm vs St Bonaventure! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
MA 66 Menlo 52. Tough loss against a high level Bears squad that stepped it up to a physical level we struggled to match. But we had our moments and played great in spurts, so there are lots of positive takeaways despite the L. SoCal next! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
Our last 2 wins featured solid team play and full bench participation: 76-43 vs St Thomas More and 74-50 vs Summit Shasta. Great to see deserving players get minutes. Also great to see our ppg over 70…all of which we will need Thurs night vs M-A!! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
Proud of our guys: we took our lumps at Los Gatos Tourney but turned it into a positive learning experience. Nice “bounce back” win off big plays down the stretch from our experienced core…and against a very good Carmel team! Menlo 72 Carmel 61. @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
Got off to a 27-12 halftime lead, but we conceded a 32-10 (!!) 3rd qtr to a red hot Santa Teresa team. Final score Santa Teresa 58 Menlo 50. 4th place finish at Los Gatos Tournament. Back to work. Tough week ahead!
Mental aspects of coaching can be rough. All coaches know this. Brutal 10pm loss followed by self-doubt 6am film study… But this stopped me cold just now and reminded me to have perspective. So many positives last night, and it’s only game 2! PERSPECTIVE!!
Los Gatos 50 Menlo 46. 1st Q down 10-0, fought back to lead 44-38 with 2:54 left but made “early-season” mistakes & didnt close. But proud of our team - valiant effort against a top program on their court! Many positives, great big game experience! @MenloKnights@MenloBoysBball
