@BigBenVa1 Ya know, it's easy to hate them. Their practices are suspect - at best.
And yet, they do provide a service to ppl just starting out. If you're not in over your head - training, gear, etc - you can book work there. At least you can practice auditioning. A LOT. π
#voiceover stories..
Colleague who is significantly more accomplished than I: "What's the most important part of your signal chain?"
I, thinking I'm sounding smart: "I guess the mic, but a lot of other factors are involved."
He, proving I'm less smart than I think I sound: "Dude. YOU."
Once again: Craftsman >>> tools
#VoiceActors will dig this:
#voiceover stories..
She: How long before you hear back abt your audition?
Me: I won't hear back unless I booked it. If I do hear from my agent abt it, and NOT bc I booked it, that's prolly NON-good.
#voiceover stories..
Signed with a new agency, and they are peppering me with auditions! This is the kind of busy I dig! Putting that dbx 286s to work, y'all!
#voiceover stories..
Got my @dbxpro 286s settings just the way I want them. Now talking to friends abt "signal chain," because I'm totally turning into a studio nerd.

#voiceover stories..
New to my signal chain: No, a dbx 286s is not a panacea. It doesn't compensate for poor technique, a badly- or un-treated space, or lack of talent.
However, it is REALLY freaking cool!
It's considered poor form to tag #voiceover industry players on LinkedIn to get more visibility. Alas, when you're NOT a player, your basic q's & comments don't get much traction. So, Imma put aside my concerns abt professional comms on this site and give it a go.
@FargasonPR@Rob_Bradley I remember one Heritage tourney abt 20 yrs ago in which the pros were hitting driver into the wind on 18...and barely reaching 200 yds.
#voiceover stories..
They: You're a #voiceactor ?
I: I am.
They: But you've never been hired for anything "big." Maybe you're overestimating your talent.
I: Maybe someone else is underestimating it.
