Disclaimer: I myself have not been perfect about getting out and voting, this is just how the numbers work out. If you aren’t getting out to vote because you feel like you’re opinion is too small in the “grand scheme,” shift your perspective!
Some voting math: if you go to vote in 3 elections per year each with an average of 6 separate elections on the ballot, that’s actually 18 votes. If you do this for 30 years, that’s 540 votes for the candidates of your ideologies. If you want to make a change, vote all the time.
Now maybe 30 years is too long. Over the 4 years of being an undergraduate, alone you’ll total 72 votes. But, let’s say you convince your 3 best friends with similar ideologies to vote in each election. Together, you have the power of 288 votes just while you’re in college.
