It’s important to sprint regularly in order to get faster. That’s been stated on here ad nauseam.
But it’s equally important to sprint regularly for hamstring health. Possibly more important?

Players who reach ≥95% of their max speed in at least one effort per week are less likely to experience muscle injuries compared to those who reach ≤85%.
Sprint training should be used as an injury prevention tool.

A recipe for athletes to get faster —
1) Sprint often.
2) Understand sprint mechanics & how they can help you exert force into the ground more optimally.
3) Choose exercises in the weight room that raise the ceiling for force output, & exercises that facilitate RFD.
4) Plyos.
