This is an image in the memory of all who attended Sunday mass at the St George Orthodox Church in Puthupally.

This is the Church that he visited for prayer and worship since his childhood.

Once I attended a cousin's marriage in this Church. Oomen Chandy also attended the ceremony. He would rarely miss a marriage, funeral of people from his constituency.

As the ceremonies progressed inside, often he would come to the steps that lead to the inside of the Church and sit down. Anyone of any age can come and meet him here.

He had a small house nearby. People had to walk a few metres through a thin lane to reach his home. After the morning mass, he would stay available to all in this house to listen to their problems and find a solution to it. This was a Every Sunday routine -whether he was in Power or not, whether he was the CM or not.

Oomen Chandy's simplicity, honesty and integrity has left an unforgettable mark in the ethos of Malayali community. His sleep was mostly in the car when after a series of meetings that went on till early morning, he would take the road drive back to Trivandrum to attend Assembly sessions and CMO.

INDIA needs this love and faith towards their political leadership. Only then can India progress. The responsibility for this lies on both voters and leaders. Good leaders should be voted to Power. Good leaders should lead the politicsbin the country.
