Sorry if I was vague.

Take a typical SWE. They are paid a fixed wage. All metrics are up (LOC, shipped product, tickets closed - you name it), but it’s not reflected in GDP, consumer value etc. because they haven’t necessarily made something anyone wants. Shipped simply because they could.

Yeah, I’m in two minds on this. It’s could vs should.

Loads getting is built, but not much of it has value to the consumer.

This will probably change but it kind of cuts against classical econ. Historically, market demand -> production. Now it’s like supply trying to force consumption

I’m pretty confident that we could pause model development right now and the existing models, used right, would get us to an age of global abundance and prosperity.

I’m not confident the same is true if we keep pushing development.
