Coaches - you can only learn, when you admit you don't know it all.

I was working with Rugby Australia some time ago having been brought in by the Wallabies head coach of that time.

As you know - there's two types of professional #coaches - those who HAVE been sacked and those who WILL BE sacked - It's part of being a professional coach.
The Wallaby #coach I was working with got sacked - and a new coach came in. Good guy. Smart rugby coach. Long history in the game. Likeable man.

He asked to meet with me and said, "Wayne. I've decided not to keep you on. It's not personal - it's just that you don't know anything about rugby".

I replied, "That's your call of course. I respect that but the reason you should keep me here is, Rugby is ALL you know".

The point of the story is - #coaches - don't be fooled into thinking you know everything about #coaching , performance, leadership, winning, team development etc etc because you know a lot about your specific sport.

I've learnt that the greatest source of ideas always comes from OUTSIDE of your sport - and indeed OUTSIDE OF SPORT all together.

@btsportrugby Direct contact to the head with force. Poor tackle tech should be seeing 3-5 weeks on the sidelines. Everyone has missed this from the referee to the analysts.
