I fell for the 3-tier price reduction trick - again!
I'm in a Persian rug store. The price tag says $4500 for the rug I want, but now on sale for $2700. The seller (a Persian) says
"I'll give it to you for $900".
My mind, sees the drop from $4500 to $900 and thinks "what a bargain".
I take it. I arrive home and realize I've been HAD.😇
Rugs like the one, cost an average of $900. If he had outright said $900, I'd have said "No thanks, too expensive". I only desired the rug in the mistaken belief that it was worth much more.
It's contrast-marketing - works like a charm.
Speed-Research
Wanting to do it in a short time takes away from the joy of immersing yourself in a thing. If you don't enjoy it, you shouldn't be involved in the topic.
If something is done with time in mind or with impatience, it usually prolongs the time it takes before completion.
I enjoy research, discovery and experimentation so the concept of time doesn't matter - doesn't even cross my mind.
Intuition also helps because it tells you which info is important and which isn't before you even read it.
Sometimes, when researching an article, I might have 50 website-tabs open that are related to something I'm looking for. I take a look at the page and can quickly "sense" whether it has the thing I am looking for. Intuition comes from a relaxed, open-attention state.
So I can close maybe 47 tabs within 5 minutes and dedicate my attention to the 3 tabs that "feel" like they are related to what I'm looking for.
It works like this:
You have the intention to find XYZ.
Once you have this intention, it filters what you FEEL when you look at something. If you feel nothing, then it's not related to your intention.
The key to this is not overthinking and trying to grasp everything with your mind but let your intuitive-self do the work. It already knows.
Of course Academic books require tons of references. But using too many references indicates that one has few thoughts of their own. 😀
On this date in 1988, 66.5% of the spatial area of the U.S. mainland was >90°F (32°C).
Today's “unprecedented climate-fueled heat dome” only managed to get 17% of the U.S. land area >90° at peak heating.
Our thermometer data doesn't lie, but journalists and academics do.
