I spoke with Ireland’s Taoiseach @MichealMartinTD and informed him about my recent conversation with President Macron—coordination with partners is important at this moment.
We discussed a shared vision of real steps to end the war. Ireland supports our approach that the initiative must be joint, as the security of Ukraine and of all of Europe depends on this. We will do everything to achieve a just and guaranteed peace.
We also talked about financial aid, our European affairs, and Ireland’s contribution to protecting Ukrainians.
Thank you for your support.
Hi Clodagh, do you know when the next section of the Midleton Greenway will be open? Phase 2 is due end of 2024, but it's hard to find an exact date. @ClodaghMidleton

Ireland's plastic bag levy was introduced in 2001 - long before other places. Today, we use fewer plastic bags than most EU countries. We're still consuming 48 bags per person per year, but predominantly lightweight bags for food items. Good progress 👍🇮🇪

@ElmaRyder It's telling how much they're overreacting to this. Lawyers, IT, accountants, Builders etc all take stick. The reason this good so hard as there's an essence of truth. Those that can do, those that can't....
I'm the son of a busman and I came from a working class community. I’m the first to get to second level education in our family. And the first generation to get to third level. I don’t need lectures from the far left.
@art_omahony We need data centers, but they won't drive economic growth or the indigenous technology sector. We need best in class STEM universities that deliver. We need to push for results including a major review of patents and equally vastly increase EU funds into startups
Irish households were among the most indebted in the world 15 years ago. Since then debt relative to annual disposable income has fallen almost continuously. Last year it converged on the euro area average at just under 90%.
Ireland produces more graduates with skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) than any other EU country. Importantly, we are second only to France in our number of STEM-skilled female graduates. This is an investment in our future. 🇮🇪👩🔬

@SenatorMcDowell@IrishTimes We have excessive wind generation, especially at night. Electric cars charging at night can be an efficient use of that excess.
@EuroCelt Ursula von der Leyen has become the voice of EU. Not exactly the same caliber or weight of Merkel or Macron, but more appropriate as EU Commission president.
The State is transferring the first in a series of annual payments into a fund set up to invest windfall gains from taxing multinationals. https://t.co/JyPkPVAqB4
