Together with our allies, we condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure including oil and gas installations, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces.
I have today spoken to regional allies to condemn indiscriminate strikes by the abhorrent Iranian regime and to express UK solidarity.
We want to see prevention of escalation and protection of civilian lives.
Our embassies are working tirelessly to support British nationals.
Iran has failed to provide any assurances on its nuclear programme nor engaged in talks. That’s why we have triggered snapback sanctions.
Our countries will continue to pursue diplomatic routes and negotiations. The reimposition of UN sanctions is not the end of diplomacy.
The UK stands with our Estonian allies, following yet another reckless incursion into NATO airspace by Russia.
We must continue to increase pressure on Putin, including driving forward the important new economic sanctions announced by the UK & EU in recent days.
Back in sunny London at the end of a challenging tour in Tel Aviv. I now have a bit of time to get my mind (and body) in shape before picking up my next assignment in HQ.
My thanks and appreciation to the brilliant team at @ukinisrael. Good luck @thomasphipps.
Shabbat Shalom
It is a huge honour to serve as UK Foreign Secretary.
From Russian aggression in Europe to the horrendous famine and conflict in Gaza - when UK diplomacy has never been more important.
I look forward to representing and promoting British interests around the world. @FCDOGovUK
UK Ambassador to Israel Simon Walters urges negotiation with Palestinians, stressing that peace is the only way to secure Israel’s future and end the cycle of violence.

Iran has been severely out of compliance with its nuclear commitments under the JCPoA deal for many years.
That’s why, alongside our European allies, the UK has triggered the snapback mechanism to end sanctions relief against Iran 👇

Today I met the families of Guy Gilboa and Evyatar David. Hamas’ deliberate starvation of them is horrific. Regardless of the conditions in Gaza, clearly Hamas chose to starve them. They are responsible for their fate. All hostages must be released immediately & unconditionally.
The UK condemns the decision by Israel’s Higher Planning Committee today to approve the E1 settlement plan.
If implemented, it would divide a Palestinian state in two, mark a flagrant breach of international law and critically undermine the two-state solution.
The Israeli government must reverse this decision.
With my time in Israel close to the end, I visited the #Nova site and Kfar Aza to pay my respects.
There are no words to describe adequately what happened there. Sickening, an outrage.
We will not forget those brutally murdered nor those still waiting to come home🎗️
Israel’s decision to escalate its operations in Gaza is wrong and will bring more bloodshed, we urge it to reconsider immediately.
Israel must lift aid restrictions. The starvation unfolding is indefensible.
Hamas must release the hostages and can play no part in Gaza's future.
The images of hostages being paraded for propaganda are sickening.
Every hostage must be released unconditionally. Hamas must disarm and have no control over Gaza.
We are working with partners on a long-term solution and plan for peace. This must begin with an immediate ceasefire, that frees the hostages, as well as removing inhumane aid restrictions.
