So glad this mammoth is finally out! @donaldmcknight2 and I kicked this off just before COVID which really restricted participation with lockdowns, but excited about all the student authors on this project, some as the first paper they have been on! #NocturnalBasking#Turtles
@neorsd @Fieldkorn There are smallmouth salamanders there, but most of the salamanders are unisexual Ambystoma, a very interesting group with an interesting way of reproducing. Here is a video from science Friday featuring @amphibs and @RD_Denton describing them: https://t.co/OMbOdsmuYR
@neorsd@troy_neptune@HotHerps@Nicole_Harvel Fun fact is the belly patterns are unique for each individual, like a fingerprint, so we can recognize the same individual year after year when they come back to breed.
@amphibs Super fun to work with @amphibs on this! One of the many interesting bits is that warmer winter/spring associated with more overlap in breeding between wood frogs and tiger salamanders. Colder weather = tigers breeding earlier than wood frogs.
Delighted that this beast of a manuscript is finally out in the world! I had an absolute blast working on this with @BenardMF. Do science with your friends, y'all, it's the best.
