@ShannonNutt@TheStingisBack The alien fingers looked pretty artificial to me as well. Thematically it looks pretty saccharine, too, and I've read / heard nothing that tells me this will be time well spent...
@TheStingisBack It doesn’t bode well, because Spielberg gets quite a say in how his trailers are cut. So my expectations are pretty darned low for this one.
@DominicHailsto1 also, maybe the “anti-ai” people you speak of are just “pro cinema” or “pro creativity” or “pro humans at the helm of artistic expression”. Because prompts are not creative expression, they are the outsourcing of it.
@DominicHailsto1 but even if we were - what does that have to do with the fact that generative AI is overwhelmingly sloppy or that outsourcing creative thought is categorically a foolishly dehumanising thing to do?
@worldofreel@SightSoundmag There's no better way to demonstrate how out of touch with your own craft you are than to be this wilfully, pitifully narrow in observance of contemporary cinema. I guess QT hasn't bothered with Nouvelle Vague, Holy Cow, Weapons, Lurker, Bugonia, Marty Supreme etc. How sad.
@AVARY Yeah if it utilised AI, then the one good thing about it (beautiful production design and effects) would have been lost. Find me one example of AI generated production design in a SF film which looks beautiful, not-generic and invites a feeling of wonder. I'll wait.
@santodrives Further to my heartfelt thanks, just noting for Aussie viewers, I discovered this during yet another of the wonderful archival 1986-90's The Movie Show episodes that SBS are finally putting online
@asummersmusic Ah... @asummersmusic social media team - this is a clearly AI generated article which lists Andy's wife and Sting as "The Players". Other tell-tales, aside from the classic chatbot dot-points is seeing things like a quote from "Summers' child".
@SUBMARINER1941@benzostraydogs i thought the worst part of the literacy crisis was all of the boring hyperbole that has replaced cleverness and authenticity
@DrewMcWeeny If Cregger can jettison this need he seems to have to break the spell of the mysteries of his characters (entire 2nd half of Barbarian, needless Aunt Gladys Weapons prequel in apparent development), he’ll be a much better filmmaker and we’ll be a richer audience.
