Motivated to understand the mechanisms underlying cellular dynamics like filopodia function, cell surface repair, membrane organization using biophotonics
Our new review on @filopodia is out in Trends in Cell biology. It is an easy to read review combining theoretical models with experimental findings. https://t.co/OJGlxsme2h Please contact me if you need the pdf file. [email protected]
Our new review on 'Biological Applications on Thermoplasmonics' with a bunch of exciting applications. E.g. a brand new clinical trial has proven extremely promising results for prostate treatment using photo thermal therapy. https://t.co/NOZcnR87JH
Dynamics of influenza spike proteins revealed by a physical method called thermoplasmonics. See our new Nano Letters paper on how virus proteins can be be investigated in hybrid vesicles made from GUVs and plasma membranes from transfected cells. https://t.co/uwyVvZNLf8
Who says science has to be all boring graphs and tables? 📊
I’m exhited to share that my illustrations have been featured on the front cover of two scientific journals! For me it doesn’t get much bigger than this 🤩
Huge thanks to my co-authors on these papers ⬇️
Is biology using molecular crowding for bending membranes or no? We have tried to give a balanced and critical review on this matter in a new review published in Biochemical Society Transactions - Ruhoff et al. 2022:

Thermoplasmonic rupture of cells cause immediate recruitment of the membrane protein annexin A5. This novel approach brings new insights into annexin A5 contribution to repairing cell membranes! Read the @nanoscale_rsc article by @G_MorPes @BendixLab 👉 https://t.co/lubpUobA8v
#EESCellSurface Enjoying a fantastic conference/workshop with many interesting topics focusing on the life at the cell periphery- what a life...Hope this event will be repeated in real life in 2 years.
3- and 4-color scanning FCS to determine higher-order protein interactions and diffusion dynamics in living cells.
Also, extending the nice new RICS approaches by @prof_jelle to determine the stoichiometry of the ternary influenza A polymerase complex.
Feedback is welcome!
New type of filopodia dynamics revealed in our biorXiv preprint https://t.co/Oc6WQyk38M
Filopodia exhibit true spinning or twisting around their own axis and display beautiful helical coils as predicted by active matter simulations.
One of the program organizer of the 2021 BPS meeting will be Patricia Bassereau @BiophysicalSoc@BiophysJ Despite the invisible enemy that locks us down, with such an organizer I am looking forward to an exciting program https://t.co/gRGFA7HyIy
@BendixLab I could see that nanotube formation depends on the cell line. U2OS cells seem to form particularly large GPMVs, maybe that is connected. PS: The referenced pre-print is quite preliminary and I will post an update on biorxiv next month.
