Sakala strikes me as an individual not entirely cut out for the role he is currently auditioning for.

He lacks the charisma and stage presence needed for a politician in such a densely populated settlement. Matero is impoverished, too.

Sakala has an outstanding and admirable business acumen.

But he may just turn out to be another passive MP.

On the campaign trail, from the dozen amateur videos flowing out, Sakala can not articulate issues.

He has no depth.

Secondly, Alex Mumba Sakala must not mix business with politics.

The outcome is well documented in Zambia. He is not the first among equals.

Well accomplished Zambian businessmen more entrenched than Sakala have walked that path to financial ruin.

With only one exception and outlier to this rule.

Others died lonely as destitutes. Confined to the dustbins of history.

At his peak, GBM once owned Gemins Motorways, a milling plant and a fleet of trucks. He generated genuine wealth and became a millionaire in USD.

But he has never been the same man since he took a sip from that ill fated and poisoned chalice called Zambian politics.
