Yes, my wife has a huge stake in Infosys, and yes, Infosys has major deals with BP and Shell, and yes, that's why I issued new oil and gas licences and yes, I can't remember what point I was trying to make...
1. Global warming will continue until we reach net-zero.
2. The climate consequences will keep getting worse until we reach net-zero.
3. After reaching net-zero we will have to live and suffer in a warmer world for generations.
Do we act now or delay further?
Rhodes is burning...What really matters is not that a Tourist playground burns, its the animals burned, wildlife lost and Nature destroyed...but out headlines talk of cancelled flights and holidays. If we think this is inconvenient..you wait to see the inconvenience of climate refugees, lack of food and water....floods, droughts and war....but lets just carry on leave that to our kids to deal with.
@JuliaHB1 While we’re still in the envelope it seems fine, but already for some of the inhabitants of Chad, and many areas on the equator there’s a problem with drought, not quite sure they’re so flippant.
Mega heatwaves in parts of #India. 45C (113F) being reached in many places. Once again pushing the limits of habitat for many species. Plants and Agriculture can only survive temperature spikes for a limited period.
@JuliaHB1@ClimateDebateUK I’m sure you’re a shill, paid for by Shell! Climate denial is basically pointing at the moon in awe these days. There is no debate, just FUD, and it’s used by the biggest CO2 emitters to keep them in business. So he who pays the piper, calls the tune.
FYI, an industry making $3,000,000,000 EVERY DAY for the 50 years it’s been knowingly fucking our futures received $1,000,000,000,000 in subsidies in 2022.
There’s enough money to build any kind of future we want. Why are we building one where most of us don’t get to survive?
Whilst people try to flee the political crisis in Sudan - let’s not forget the climate crisis is also driving that country into chaos. People are fleeing in temperatures of around 43C or 109f.
There is not just a climate crisis but an equal if not worse collapse of nature
70% of wildlife gone in last 50 years
Ocean polluted depleted of marine life
insect apocalypse
Insects have declined by 75% in past 50 years
15 billion Trees cut down every year
We need degrowth
We ignore reality at our peril
Its time to shut down Big Oil or shut down the Earth as a livable planet
Its already too late to avoid devastating climate change Only hope now is to avoid complete climate collapse Time is running out fast https://t.co/LGF1TwcASA
