Being the spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy in Washington over the past three years has been one of the most challenging and demanding experiences of my life. It has meant navigating crisis after crisis, and facing moments I never could have imagined.

One of the hardest came this morning.

I was with Ambassador @yechielleiter in New York, on our way to an interview about the UNGA, when he received the devastating news that his son, Neria, had been injured in a terror attack.

Just moments earlier, we had been preparing for a full day of interviews. In this morning’s interview on @Newsmax — our last interview before we received the news — the Ambassador spoke about the unimaginable reality we have been living with in Israel, and made this point around the same time the terrorist attacked his son:

“We sent in our troops on the ground to prevent mass bombings, we lost our children because of this, and still get accused of committing a genocide.”

The Ambassador has already endured the unimaginable loss of his eldest son, Moshe, who was killed in Gaza almost 3 years ago.

New York City should never be a place where Hamas terrorists are turned into heroes.

Yet flyers are calling on New Yorkers to rally and pay tribute to Hamas terrorist Anas Al-Sharif, who led a Hamas terror cell, advanced rocket attacks against Israelis, and publicly celebrated the October 7 massacre as Jews were murdered, raped, and kidnapped, all while posing as an Al Jazeera “journalist.”

Recovered documents by the @IDF from Gaza leave no doubt: Al-Sharif was no reporter. He was a Hamas operative hiding behind a press badge.

This is not solidarity. This is the glorification of terrorism.
