1) MLB’s current playoff format tries to reward division winners while also building a modern, bracket-driven Wild Card tournament. Instead, it can leave teams with better records fighting for survival while weaker division champions receive byes and favorable paths.
2) My case: baseball should remain a regular-season sport. October should be the reward for winning a pennant race—not the only part of the calendar that really matters. My proposal for a better postseason format
