7. It is 100% ok to cry when you witness tragedy. Please let yourself do this. You don’t have to do it on shift if you don’t want to, but when you get home, let yourself feel sadness.
Dear M3s about to be M4s
I put “Ice Cream Sundays” on my ERAS app under hobbies/interests, and it was easily one of the most heavily discussed topics on the interview trail. Just have fun with it 😊
Alright #MedTwitter, work your magic! As a prelim who matched advanced in #anesthesia - I will now have a gap year -- I'm wondering what job opportunities there are especially in #Houston / #TMC! -- I'm open to anything but particularly interested in rsrch or clinical activities
@_conniege@TheJoeyGu Been following your journey peripherally—as someone who has gone through the same thing, I know what a relief it just be. Congrats!
@AlexisMGarcia6@FutureAnesRes You have some actionable items -- get Step 3 out of the way, do an anesthesia rotation early at your institution (even if it doesn't have an anesthesia residency) and get some new letters of recommendation, and apply broadly. Agreed with @tym_kaj about fresh review of app
After going #unmatched in #match2022 I’m so humbled and grateful by the opportunity that programs (esp @BCMAnesRes) gave me this time around as a reapplicant. Onto Houston! #match2023
Oh my some strong opinions here. In a future world with in-person residency interviews, I firmly believe that if you travel thousands of miles at great expense to interview for an extremely stressful & underpaid position, the interviewer should be sending you a thank you note.
@kyeongri_yu Was walking down a door I thought had lead into a hallway but then accidentally walked into a patients room. Got like 5 steps in before I realized this wasn’t just a dark hallway … rip me
I don’t usually brag about our residency program, but today I’m gonna make an exception.
Like other children’s hospitals, we’re managing a surge in respiratory illness.
But unlike most hospitals, we’re gonna pay the residents who work extra overnight/weekend shifts $100/hour.
#MedTwitter It's finally time for another Match cycle. After going #unmatched this past March, I'm very excited to enter the Match with a few months of internship behind me (anesthesia, SICU, vascular surgery rotations) - it's time for a comeback @FutureAnesRes#anesthesia
Last week I had to pronounce someone for the first time . . . It was surreal. Felt like I was on stage. Did anyone else have the same experience? #MedTwitter#ICU
